Surrounded by palm trees on the Nicoya Peninsula, you will find a paradise on earth, Playa Samara, known for being one of the best places to learn Surfing, its friendly people and diverse fauna. Its vibes and sunsets fill us with peace and tranquility. Where the best way to have a good time is enjoying life lying in a hammock with a good cold “Pipa Fria” Coconut water.
In this blog, we will talk about our most booked Tour, two days where we know Samara Beach and its surroundings. A trip with a mixture of adventure and relaxation enjoying the best views, where we would be able to see from Dolphins to monkeys and visit a self-sustaining Hindu Temple on the outskirts of Sámara. Dolphin Tour
Duration of 4 hours, starts at 8 am and ends at 12 pm, wherein the season we can enjoy the sighting of Dolphins, Whales and even kemp’s ridley Turtles. This is due of the way that Playa Ostional is located a few kilometers away, recognized as one of the best places in the world to spot these Turtles. It also includes Snorkeling equipment, Snacks, Drinks, Bilingual Guide and Transportation. The tour takes place with Francisco Tours, a local company with more than 18 years of experience.
Rockpool
Natural pool just outside Playa Carrillo, while swimming and relaxing, you can have a simple view of different reef fish. Excellent place to picnic, play music and enjoy with friends.
Madhuvan Temple
On the outskirts of Samara and in the middle of nowhere is an Ashram, it was founded in 2007, it is a self-sufficient community, that with solar panels and a huge garden they subsist day by day. Their way of living is based on meditation and simple life. At 6 pm, just after sunset, the ceremony begins with music, meditation and finally a dinner is shared, meeting all the members of the monastery and telling stories in the temple.
Mountain Viewpoint
Only 25 minutes walking we can see one of the best views of Playa Samara, also, on the way to the viewpoint, you can see the Howler Monkeys and other animals.
Lodging – Hostel Las Mariposas
This lodging is one of my favorites, it meets many people from all over the world, its vibe is calm, its staff is very friendly and it is also only 25 meters away from the beach. Their prices are quite accessible. Here I have met great friends, I just love this place. The following video contains one of my experiences in Sámara, I hope you enjoy it!
Is there Surf and nigthlife in Sámara?
You will find different surf schools throughout the coast, all with excellent instructors and good prices, you can usually rent boards at a price of $ 4 per hour.
Regarding the nightlife, the most famous bar for dancing is Bar Arriba, however if you want to play ping pong, darts and with a good beer my recommendation is Flying Taco. Sure, there are more options but these are the most popular in the area.
